San Francisco To Portland Road Trip

If you’re planning on taking a road trip from San Francisco to Portland, the drive is 14 hours and approximately 715 miles away. You’ll be traveling along Hwy 101, which is called the Oregon coast Road and is one of the most scenic roads in America. From there, you can see beautiful blue waters, beaches, and tree lines. There are plenty of observation sites to get out and interact with friends and family, or just walk around. You can go hiking, whale watching, or check out the large lighthouses along the coast. Here is a list of some sightseeing adventures you can go on along your trip from San Francisco to Portland.

  1. Santa Rosa:

    You won’t be on the road long before stopping in Santa Rosa to stretch. An excellent place to visit is the Luther Burbank home and gardens. It’s a historic landmark that features gardens and a greenhouse. There is fifty years of gardening experiments you can see on the property.
  1. Mendocino:

    After visiting Santa Rosa, the next destination on your route is Mendocino. You’ll see ocean views and beaches along the coast. In the winter you can go whale watching or pick wildflowers in the spring at Mendocino Headlands State Park.
  1. Klamath:

    Klamath is where you can visit the nearby Crater Lake.  It’s the deepest and most clear lake in the country.  With lots to see and do, this is a great place to stop, stretch, eat, camp and yes… even zip line!
  1. Eugene:

    Eugene, Oregon has whatever you need to give you a diversion from long periods of driving. There is the Shakespearean theater, a creative art lab, an archaeological dig site. Eugene is most famous for its wineries, King estate, Noble estate, and Capitello.
  1. Portland:

    Once you arrive in Portland, there are many attractions you’ll find. Some outdoor adventures you can enjoy are:

  • Biking
The Oregon zoo has over 200 exhibits for you to choose from for your entertainment. One of the best restaurants is Lardo. You can also grab a bite to eat from one of the city’s food trucks. The Alder Street Food Cart Pod Is located downtown and is rapidly becoming one of Portland’s main attractions.
